Since unloading her breakout single, “Play,” in 2017, Dani’s found fans by sharing her deepest feelings, a process she’ll continue on My Side, a gripping new EP featuring expert production from Rodney Jerkins and rich with ruminations on fractured romance. While the EP can be heavy, it’s also cathartic as Dani reclaims her confidence. But Dani’s been cultivating her musical identity since she was a kid. By 16, she was an accomplished background dancer, and in 2013, when she was only 18, Prince himself asked her to direct his “Breakfast Can Wait” video.
